Embroidery Process: Unlock Your Artwork

WHAT IS EMBROIDERY?

This technique is an intricate stitching process that replicates a design onto clothing using thread. Embroidery used to be performed by hand, but over the last 30 years, machine technology has brought massive advancements in accuracy and speed, making it more accessible to smaller businesses and the general public. Here at Yazzoo, we have assembled an expert team of embroiderers, art workers and state-of-the-art machinery to produce some of the finest embroideries in the UK. Even better is knowing every piece is done in-house by our brilliant team.

DIGITISING YOUR LOGO

To process your design as a piece of embroidery, it must first be 'digitised'. Our production team will analyse your design and look into how it will be embroidered stitch by stitch, examining ways to maximise the design efficiency when it runs on a machine.

Whilst many companies offer embroidery, most no longer digitise in-house anymore. However, we can proudly say that we still do.

To maintain our high-quality standards, our production team, led by Tamas, who has been digitising for over 5 years, is among the best in the UK. He's personally overseen the team and trained them to ensure they continue the quality and control we strive to achieve.

OUR TEAM

Alice oversees all embroidery and has worked with us for over 5 years. With her knowledge and expertise, she advises on improving designs and digitised artwork to improve outcomes. Her expertise is in design repair whilst overseeing all machines run harmoniously. With 5

8 head machines (seen in the image) and one sole-standing machine, she enjoys the challenges.

UNDERSTANDING STITCHES

We use many different types of stitch styles to ensure your design looks as good as possible.

Single and Triple run stitches are for tiny details like lettering. A triple-run stitch looks better as it goes back and forth before going forward. It does, however, give a dashed/dot line effect.

A Satin stitch is commonly used for lettering and objects no wider than 7-8 mm. This stitch can also give a 'padded' effect using foam below it.

Tatami is a filler stitch. It's flat, unlike satin and used to fill larger areas where satin is unsuitable. Due to its rough finishing, a satin stitch usually covers a tatami stitch.

The Final A is an example of a Tatami stitch with a Satin Stitch overlay.

In this example, Tatami was used for the body, satin for the legs in the background, eyes, mouth and ears, and a triple run for the dog's outline.

Is it worth the upgrade?

Work's Best for

  • Lasts longer
  • It gives a garment a more 'premium' look and feel
  • Colours appear much brighter because of the thread colour.
  • Multicolour at no extra cost.
  • Long-term investment

Unsuitable for

  • Unsuited for waterproof garments
  • On large design pieces, the fabric becomes stiff and rigid.
  • It can't get as much detail as you can with print and is unsuitable for small text
  • Gradients are not feasible.
