­What is DTF Printing?

DTF stands for Direct to Film. This technique prints on a particular transfer film. Artwork is then printed on the reverse side of the film, after which a hot melt powder is applied. The powder is an adhesive, helping the ink bond to the garment when it goes into a heat press. This process can work in colour as well as white ink.

DTF is a very versatile printing method. You can heat press your design onto garments, which works just as well on other materials. You may wonder why it's so versatile. The ink is semi-cured before it is bonded to the garment. This means that hot wet ink doesn't touch the garment. Due to it's nature, when it touches certain materials or fabric dyes it can cause a chemical reaction. This process stops that being possible.
