About Michael
Michael has been with Yazzoo for {{tenure.pretty}} (since {{start.year}}). He started after college (Public Services) helping during a busy period, proved his value, and soon joined on contract.
Role at Yazzoo
He powers up the area, sorts the day’s jobs by despatch date, and ensures the right screens are ready. He inspects each screen against the job visual, checks for any unwashed emulsion or design faults, sets up, inks, and dials in prints with a couple of test pulls and fine adjustments. Throughout the run he watches for printer or screen artefacts (e.g., dust) and corrects them. When a job’s done he handles colour changes/clean-downs, cuts up, bags, and gets work ready for heat press. During quieter spells he jumps onto heat press or assists with DTF cutting.
What he enjoys
The flexibility and autonomy to sequence what's best next, the satisfaction of multi-colour prints on the single-head/single-bed when they come out just right, and keeping quality consistently high while helping others when asked.
Fun stuff
- Go-to music: classical pieces while learning piano — Moonlight Sonata (movements I–III), Nocturne No. 20 in C♯ minor, and Gymnopédie No. 1.
- Forever item: polos for work; for home/out, a Yazzoo tee.
- Favourite workplace moment: the occasional (friendly) canteen jump-scare for colleagues he knows well.
