How do layers work in the image editor?

The editor starts with your uploaded artwork as a layer. When you add a picture or text, it creates another layer above or beside the existing artwork. Open Text, layers & colours on a phone, or use the side panels on a larger screen, to work with the layer list.

In Layers you can select a layer, rename it, change its visibility, lock it, adjust opacity, duplicate it, delete it and move it up or down in the stacking order. A locked layer is protected from pixel edits and text changes until you unlock it. The last remaining layer cannot be deleted; clear or edit its pixels instead.

Layers make it easier to keep a logo, added picture and added wording separate while you work. They are a working arrangement only. When you choose Save Image, visible layers are flattened into one PNG image attached to the design. Hidden layers are not included in the saved composite, so make sure anything you want printed is visible before saving.

Use Reset if you need to return to the image as it was when opened, or to the latest saved baseline.
