How do I select, recolour or erase parts of a logo?

Choose a selection tool when you need to limit an edit. Rectangle Select, Ellipse Select and Lasso let you draw the area. Magic Wand selects nearby pixels of a similar colour, with a tolerance control and an option for connected areas only. The advanced Colour Range tool selects similar colours across the whole active layer and can use soft edges.

After selecting, use the available action in the tool options. You can fill an area with the foreground colour, delete selected pixels, keep only selected pixels, or use Replace Colour to swap a sampled colour for the foreground colour. The ordinary Eraser removes pixels by brushing over them; size, hardness and strength are adjustable. Use the Eyedropper to pick a colour from the artwork.

Click an image area with the Move tool first, or choose the layer in Layers, so the intended layer is active. Locked layers cannot be edited. Tolerance and softness affect edge selection, so inspect the result closely, especially around anti-aliased edges and photographs. Undo is available for edits while you work.
